![]() ![]() ![]() As far as production goes, Annapurna Television, Sony Pictures Television, Amazon Studios, and Point Grey Pictures are all involved. ![]() Rogen and Evans released a joint statement regarding the decision to make a Sausage Party show instead of a Sausage Party 2 movie, promising both that it would continue in the same spirit as the first (including the food sex), and that the decision mainly boils down to TV being a better medium for the story they want to tell. Sausage Party: Foodtopia is slated for a 2024 release window. Amazon announced some new cast members for the Sausage Party series too, including Will Forte, Sam Richardson, Natasha Rothwell, and Yassir Lester. Seth Rogen will of course be reprising his role as the intrepid talking frankfurter Frank. The 8-part Sausage Party TV show will bring back members of the Sausage Party cast including Kristin Wiig, Scott Pilgrim and Superbad star Michael Cera, David Krumholtz, and Edward Norton. Amazon announced in 2022 that Sausage Party: Foodtopia would be arriving on Prime in 2024. Sausage Party 2 may not be happening anytime soon, but Rogen and Goldberg clearly didn't abandon their ideas for a Sausage Party follow-up quite readily as first appeared. He's still known for his iconic voice work in many animated movies too, so his legacy in the genre is cemented regardless. It might just be that Rogen's talents are better suited to live-action, and maybe he should just put any adult animation dreams he has to the wayside. However, both of his animated projects have been seen as commercial failures with few redeeming qualities. Seth Rogen is a talented creator, who has pumped out hits like Pineapple Express, the long-awaited Superbad, and The Interview. It also lacked the uniqueness of Sausage Party's premise - Bad Santa came out almost two decades ago, and it feels like a new raunchy adult-oriented Xmas movie or show has arrived yearly since. Unlike Sausage Party too, Santa Inc didn't have a small-but-highly-amused fanbase backing its corner. Most critics had little nice to say about the crass humor of Sausage Party, but Santa Inc was almost universally panned. While Sausage Party was certainly controversial upon its release (all but ruining the possibility of a Sausage Party sequel), it still was well-received by audiences. Seth Rogen's Next Foray Into Animation Wasn't Met WellĪfter Sausage Party, movie star Seth Rogen dipped his toes into the animation game once again with the HBO Max series Santa Inc - and it flopped. ![]()
